Let Go – Frou Frou

Today has been the most ridiculous day.  My life is pretty ridiculous in a Seinfeld/My So Called Life way.

There have been several times in my life where I’ve had “Macgyver” moments, or as I call them, super spy moments.  I can’t really describe them because they are top secret…I will say that I’m pretty crafty, which is helpful when I get myself in such ridiculous predicaments.  Today I had a super spy moment.

I also had a totally awesome, “I’m so smart!” moment.  My friend Mary and I often joke around that whatever we say is right because we got straight A’s.  On a whim, she called me and we decided we would go get drinks at the Rail.  After we sat down, They announced that they were having trivia night.  We decided we would play because, what the hell, and neither of us had work/school tomorrow.  Well, lo and behold, we won first place!  I was completely shocked.  We won a gift certificate, so next trivia night will be free 🙂  We really are smart.

CHAMPIONS!

I’m a spy and a genius.

And I just listened to an old mix cd that I made in 2004…right after I moved home from college.  Lots of Ramones and the Clash.  And some gems from the Garden State soundtrack, including “Let Go” by Frou Frou.  I love listening to old mixes because usually I don’t remember what’s on them, and each song is like a little piece of Christmas morning.  “Let Go” is not only catchy and beautiful, but it really caught my attention when I first heard it.  The lyrics are about letting go….

so let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it’s alright
’cause there’s beauty in the breakdown
so let go, just get in
oh, it’s so amazing here
it’s alright
’cause there’s beauty in the breakdown

I don’t want to sound cheesy here, but it’s true, I think the song has a good message.  Just let go, release, life is beautiful.  Enjoy this moment, feel the beauty.  Relish the fact that you don’t know what’s coming next, life is an adventure…live it.  I get lost in songs easily, and this is a great one to get lost in.

Quote I don’t want to forget about

“It doesn’t happen all at once. You Become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen to people who break easily, or who have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out, and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” – The Velveteen Rabbit
